The Massey Ferguson 1648 tractor is powered by Iseki E4CG 4-cycle vertical 4-cylinder indirect injection naturally aspirated liquid-cooled diesel engine. A 134 cubic inches (2.2 L) engine has a cylinder bore of 3.43" (87 mm), piston stroke of 3.64" (92.4 mm), and rated power of 47.1 Hp (35.1 kW). This model is fitted with several transmission options: 8x8 SynchroShuttle transmission, 12x12 PowerShuttle transmission, 3-range hydrostatic transmission, or 12x12 DynaQPS transmission.
